New Zealand series hangs in the balance

The fate of the New Zealand series hangs in the balance

Bangladesh's two-match Test series in New Zealand tour is in doubt due to quarantine complications.  The fourth corona test of Bangladesh cricketers is to be held tomorrow.  If everyone in the team is negative there, the series will be on time, said BCB chief Nazmul Hasan.  If for any reason the quarantine period is extended, the BCB will have to rethink the series.

"The cricketers are very tired now," Nazmul Hasan told reporters after a meeting at the BCB office here today.  Many players were wondering if the series could be dropped.  There is no chance of it happening though.  If the quarantine is extended again after the 21st, then I will be able to negotiate with the New Zealand board. '

According to the pre-announced schedule, the Bangladesh team will be quarantined for seven days during its tour of New Zealand.  After going to the field and practicing for a while, the believers were supposed to play two warm-up matches on December 22.  But the quarantine period was extended for the rest of the Bangladesh team as a passenger on the flight to New Zealand was caught amicron and the team's spin bowling coach Rangana Herath Corona was positive.  That is why the preparation match is not being held on time.

The schedule of the two-match Test series may be delayed like the preparation match.  Nazmul Hasan said, "If the series is postponed for 3-4 days, then we have no choice but to do so.  The game is set to take place on January 1 in Mount Manganui, the second Test of the series in Christchurch on January 9, according to the schedule.

The fate of the BPL depends on the schedule of the New Zealand series.  The probable start date for the franchise-based T20 tournament was set for January 20.

If we change the schedule of New Zealand series, we have to think about the schedule of BPL.  Due to this, the work of announcing the BPL team and publishing the draft list is also stalled.

Nazmul Hasan said, "How do I do BPL?  How much time do I have?  It may not be what we planned it to be.  It may take some time.  It may be that the BPL will be started by excluding those who are there.  There will be a two-four day break after arriving from New Zealand.  They will join later and get paid in full.  If there is any financial loss, the board will pay it.  You have to travel 7 days for 3 venues.  We can save 2 days by reducing one venue.  If we make 5 teams instead of 6, we get 4-5 days.  These are being discussed.  I will be able to inform after knowing the decision on the 21st.
