Some of the unpleasant aspects of Windows 11 (and their solutions)

Like everything else, Windows 11 has its ups and downs.  Many new changes have been made to the new version of the popular operating system of Microsoft.  However, with the innovation, Windows 11 has also brought some unpleasant issues.

These unpleasant issues with Windows 11 can be fixed by editing third party tools and registry.  In this post you will learn about some of the unpleasant issues of Windows 11 and how to solve them.

 Right click menu

In Windows, right-clicking on the right mouse button brings up a menu.  This menu, familiar to all Windows users, has changed to Windows 11.  This action menu will be missed by all Windows users.

Currently Windows 11 shows some unlabelled bottom panels, with simple buttons at the bottom.  Click on the button labeled "Show All Actions" but you will see the previous context menu.

However, by editing the Windows registry quite easily, you will be able to go back to the previous favorite right click menu.  First, click on the Start icon, which you can do by pressing the Windows key.  Then search and enter Registry Editor.

Enter the following address in the top address bar:

 Computer \ HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ SOFTWARE CLASSES \ CLSID

Right click on the empty space and select New and then Key.  Then enter the following text as key value:

 {86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2

Then just right-click on the created code value.  Then first select New and then Key.  Enter the name of the key: InprocServer32

Double click on the “(Default” ”key in the InprocServer32 folder.  Then click the "OK" button without making any changes.  This will be the blank value entry in the entry.  Then close the Registry Editor and restart the PC.  After launching the PC, you will get back to the previous right-click menu.

@: Unnecessary taskbar items

Windows 11's redesigned taskbar looks great, but it's full of unnecessary icons.  If you do not use the Widgets, Virtual Desktop, Search or Microsoft Teams Chat feature, you can completely remove these features.

Right-click on an empty space in the taskbar and then select the "Taskbar Settings" option.  You can then disable any of the icons you want from the Taskbar Items section.

@: Dark mode

It would be wrong to call Dark Mode of Windows 11 Dark Mode, it is basically a dark theme.  It may seem a little too dark to many.  And to use this feature you have to turn to the settings app.  If you want to use regular dark mode like Mac or Android, you have to take the help of a third party app called Auto Dark Mode.

Once installed, enter the "Time" section and set the Dark Mode schedule.  You can also switch between light and dark mode by right-clicking on any app icon.  The Global Shortcut key can be set to turn Dark Mode on or off from the “Switch Modes” section.

@: Resize taskbar

Windows 11 taskbar cannot be resized to default settings.  This means that if the size of this taskbar does not work for you, then no settings are provided to change it.  However, it is possible to solve this problem through Registry Editor.

First enter the Registry Editor and then enter the following text in the address bar:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

Right click on any empty space and select New> DWORD (32-bit) Value.  Then a new entry will be added at the bottom of the “Advanced” folder.  Rename it with the name "TaskbarSi".

Double click on the “TaskbarSi” file.  Then, if you want a small taskbar, enter "Value Data" field "0" and if you want a large taskbar, enter any number greater than "2" or "1" and click on "OK".

After restarting the computer, the size of the taskbar will be updated.

@: Move the taskbar

Similarly there is no option to move the taskbar to the side or top of the screen.  But again with the help of Registry Editor you can set the taskbar at the top of the screen.  However, there is still no option to set the taskbar on the left or right side of the screen.

First enter the Registry Editor and then enter the following text in the address bar:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StuckRects3

Double-click the Settings file in the StruckRects3 folder.  Then you will see “Edit Binary Value” window where you will see a table with many values.  Go to the second row and select the fifth value from the left.  This value is "03" by default.

To the right of this value, place the mouse cursor towards the end, press the backspace button once and set the value to "01".  Then close the registry editor by clicking on the "Ok" option.  Then when you restart the computer you will see the taskbar top.
